Educational Initiatives (EI) is an educational products company that leverages the twin levers of cutting-edge educational research and a technology-based solutions approach to revolutionize how children engaged in the K-12 education space learn. Our vision is to create a world in which children everywhere learn with understanding. Our goal is to reach a multitude of children across different strata of society, irrespective of the kind of education they are receiving today or the curriculum they are following. We achieve this goal by building products that focus on diagnostic assessment and personalized learning. We believe in a scientific approach to conceptualizing, designing and building our products. This stems from a dream to discover a Science of Learning that can systematically be made available to teachers. To draw an analogy, modern medicine is the result of a corresponding Science of Medicine that is only about 80 years old. Almost all treatments are based on a scientific approach that follows a process chain enabling in-depth testing, analysis, diagnosis, prescription, progress-tracking and achievement of the goal for which treatment is being done. EI’s mission is to build this Science of Learning which would provide answers to questions like how many children are not able to (say) correctly subtract in class 5 or solve equations in class 8 and why. It would also categorize the different underlying errors and their frequencies. The Science of Learning would provide teachers a repository of data and techniques that they can use to help children learn better – a big improvement over today’s situation where teachers struggle alone to help students learn. EI’s work on assessment and learning has already helped create banks of misconceptions, common student errors and the like and share these as usable insights with teachers. The Science of Learning gets built by the use of technology and also helps technology be used better to improve learning! Role and Responsibilities: EI promotes leadership and managerial skills at each level. Hence the candidate should be ready to own the tasks, manage projects and exhibit leadership qualities. LSEP works through projects and in a usual project cycle, the ES would be expected to do the following tasks:

  • Building simple but discerning questions to check whether the child has really understood
  • Commenting and finalizing questions made by peers to enhance quality of questions
  • Validating translated questions and content to enhance the quality of the same
  • Making standardized test papers for different projects
  • Analyzing large-scale student response data to figure out how children think and learn
  • Designing and conducting training and workshops on Assessment Process, Question making, understanding results, and reports, etc.
  • Conduct evaluator training/post analysis workshops throughout the country
  • Spending considerable time on field by setting standard processes, doing trainings for invigilators and helping out with field audit and other relevant implements

2. Sr. Educational Specialist-Math

SBU: Pedagogy Research
Location: Bangalore/Ahmedabad
Role and Responsibilities:

1. Researching on how students best learn Maths (pedagogy of Maths)–

  • Conducting research experiments to test the hypothesis
  • Through reading of academic journals
  • Analyzing data on questions and learning modules
  • By interacting with external subject experts and researchers

  • Attending conferences and presenting a paper

8. Associate Manager – Project Management

Role and Responsibilities:
  • Keeping the government officials informed and updated about the progress at all times
  • Ensuring government buy-in to scale up the product by preparing usage reports highlighting impact on students’ learning levels
  • Securing required approvals from the relevant officials during implementation
  • Giving inputs on the policies that the government is making around ICT
  • Attending any meetings in Delhi / MHRD on this topic

13. HR Head

Role and Responsibilities:

Role: The AVP HR originates and leads Human Resources practices and objectives that will provide an employee-oriented, high-performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity and standards, goal attainment, and the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce. The position reports to the CEO and serves on the executive management/leadership team; and assists and advises company managers about Human Resources issues.

Responsibilities:

Operational & Administrative:

  • Oversees the implementation of Human Resources programs through Human Resources staff. Oversees and manages the work of reporting Human Resources staff. Encourages the ongoing development of the Human Resources staff.
  • Develops and monitors an annual budget for the Human Resources department.
  • Conducts a continuing study of all Human Resources policies, programs, and practices to keep management informed of new developments.
  • Leads the development of department goals, objectives, and systems.
  • Establishes departmental measurements that support the accomplishment of the company’s strategic goals and reports progress on an ongoing basis.

  • Establishes the company wage and salary structure, pay policies, and oversees the variable pay systems within the company including bonuses and raises.

  • Leads participation in at least one salary survey per year.
